Music Department of the Year 2015

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Education Business Awards at the Grange Hotel in London. These awards are presented to schools who have shown innovation in teaching and learning, and investment in buildings. At Morpeth School, we are fortunate to have to have outstanding facilities and teachers who work together to offer a wide range of activities for all to enjoy. Our Music Department won the Music Award for 2015, which was presented by ex pupil and Eurovision Contest Winner Cheryl Baker.

Music has long been a strength of our school and is an example of what can be acheived through hard work and enjoyment. I encourage you all to engage in a musical activity at school, either on an instrument, participating in one of our many ensembles or trying something new in class. The rewards not only result in higher quality musical performances, but will build confidence, encourage independant learning and build skills that you can use throughout your life.

Congratulations to all involved in the life of our department and have a restful summer.
